Week 3 Discussion Question 5

“You can rebel against God and be alienated from him either by breaking his rules or by keeping all of them diligently.” (pp. 36-37)


Explain this statement, using examples if possible.

    One becomes alienated from God by breaking the rules by selfishly doing things "my way" to get the things they want.

    One becomes alienated from God by keeping the rules by selfishly doing so to earn benefits and then feels entitled to those benefits.

    The root of both types of alienation is selfishness.

    Both deny the importance of having a relationship with God and instead, value things most.
