Week 6 Discussion Question 8

Why is this true?

  1. We talked about how much the people of St. Andrews and the people of Hedaru, Tanzania have to offer each other.

    People who have traveled to Hedaru have witnessed how their trust in God gives them a core strength and inner joy despite the difficult conditions in their lives. After seeing this attitude prevalent in Hedaru, we can contrast our own excessive reliance on material things as a block our relationship with God which leads to a life that has more anxiety (fear that we will lose what we have relied on), and less joy.

    On the other hand, the material things we have are good, and can help the people in Hedaru meet basic needs for living, such as water and livestock.
