Week 3 Discussion Question 10

If you asked the average person on the street to define the word “sin”, what would they say? How does Jesus challenge this definition in the parable? (See: page 43)

    Group comments:

    We typically think of "sin" as disobeying rules, such as religious moral codes.

    In Jesus' time, people had to go to the temple and make sacrifices to atone for their sins.


    Jesus teaches that "sin" is not about rules, but instead, is about not being in a right relationship with God.

    Jesus bypasses the temple.
